MINOR IN RHETORIC, WRITING, AND COMMUNICATIONS
The Minor in Rhetoric, Writing and Communications emphasizes the interpretation, evaluation, production, and editing of messages for a range of audiences, media, and purposes. It offers students the opportunity to practice writing in a variety of genres and read contemporary non-fiction, analyze visual and verbal arguments, trace the impact of print and electronic media on western culture, and—through the study of theory and close attention to textual practices—examine how ideology imprints itself on discourse. Those who Minor in Rhetoric, Writing, and Communications are prepared for public- and private-sector careers that depend on analytical and communicative skills, especially in writing.
Students must complete a 3-year, 4-year or Honours degree program in order to be eligible to hold a Minor.
