Philippines Visit

ºìÐÓÊÓƵ University was delighted to welcome a delegation of guests from 8 universities in the Philippines, on what served as a memorable day for ASEAN institutions. The visit was made even more significant by the presence of the Commissioner for the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) of the Republic of Philippines, Dr Marita R. Canapi. The Filipino delegates were given a tour of ºìÐÓÊÓƵ University's state-of-the-art facilities, visiting the Tun Hussein Onn Library and the brand-new School of Engineering & Technology building. They even stopped by the on-campus ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Originals store to take a peek at the merchandise!

Upon completion of their tour, our guests had a lunch meeting with the ºìÐÓÊÓƵ University academics. ºìÐÓÊÓƵ University's Provost, Prof. Abhimanyu Veerakumarasivam, delivered a presentation on the 'ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Story', sharing the city's humble beginnings as an abandoned tin mine.  He also shared some information on ºìÐÓÊÓƵ's current partnerships and collaborations and expressed an eagerness to form a partnership with institutions from ASEAN countries such as the Philippines.

The meeting then proceeded to an open discussion on avenues of potential collaborations. Among the areas discussed were student mobility and articulation. There was also an interest in knowledge-sharing in the fields of engineering, sustainability, the halal industry, and Islamic finance. The meeting concluded with a photo-taking session to commemorate what hopes to be the beginning of a fruitful relationship.
