ºìÐÓÊÓƵ iLabs Wins Prestigious AKRI 2024 Award
ºìÐÓÊÓƵ iLabs and ºìÐÓÊÓƵ University celebrate their recognition with the esteemed Anugerah Khas YB Menteri Pendidikan Malaysia: Rekabentuk Kurikulum Dan Penyampaian Inovatif (AKRI) 2024 Award. This prestigious accolade honours groundbreaking projects and initiatives that set benchmarks in education excellence at both institutional and individual levels. “May this year’s award ignite enthusiasm, inspire excellence, and serve as a model for all, especially in building an outstanding ecosystem of education and research,†remarked the Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir.
The winning submission, “Immersive Blended Learning with Game-Based Innovation for Entrepreneurship Education in Large Classesâ€, exemplifies ºìÐÓÊÓƵ iLabs’ forward-thinking approach to education. At its core is the innovative integration of the Paradox of Theron (POT) into the ºìÐÓÊÓƵ University’s compulsory module, Entrepreneurial Mindset and Skills (EMS). With game-based learning as its foundation, POT addresses the complexities of teaching entrepreneurship in large classes by fostering engagement, creativity, and the practical application of skills. Led by Yeong Hui Yan, the Head of Entrepreneurship Programme at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ iLabs, this initiative bridges theory with real-world problem-solving, offering an impactful and scalable model for entrepreneurship education for large classes.
The journey to this recognition was highly competitive. The AKRI 2024 attracted 108 submissions from universities across the country. From this pool, 27 finalists were shortlisted. The finalists underwent an intense pitching session on 17 August, culminating in ºìÐÓÊÓƵ iLabs being crowned a winner for the Immersive Blended Learning category at the award ceremony held in October 2024.
