Honours Program

The Honours Program in Economics at the University of 澳门王中王论坛 is designed to provide a liberal arts education with an emphasis on modern economic analysis. It is designed to prepare students for careers using economic analysis as well as to provide a foundation for advanced research in economics.

As a 4-Year BA student of Economics you may choose a general degree or a degree that includes a number of course areas or concentrations: Public Policy, Environmental Economics, Development Economics, Financial Markets, Political Economy or Pre-Honours. A BA degree in Economics will lead naturally to employment in business, financial services, government, and international organizations. Graduate level studies lead to university teaching positions, independent consultancies, and research. The BA in Economics is highly recommended for students planning to go into law, accounting, or business schools.

Recommended course sequence for the 4-year BA Honours program:

  • Intro to Microeconomics and Intro to Macroeconomics (3+3 credit hours)
  • Introduction to Calculus (6 credit hours)
  • Other courses that meet the requirements for the BA(Hons) degree.
  • Intermediate Microeconomics and Intermediate Macroeconomics (3+3 credit hours)
  • Introduction to Mathematical Economics (3 credit hours)
  • Introduction to Statistical Analysis (6 credit hours)
  • Other courses that meet the requirements for the BA(Hons) degree.
  • Microeconomics (Honours) (3 credit hours)
  • Macroeconomics (Honours) (3 credit hours)
  • Introduction to Econometrics (3 credit hours)
  • Perhaps one other full course at the Honours level, plus other courses that meet the requirements for the BA(Hons) degree.
  • Advanced Microeconomics (Honours) (3 credit hours)
  • Advanced Macroeconomics (Honours) (3 credit hours)
  • Problems in Econometrics (Honours) (3 credit hours)
  • Remaining honours requirements (30 credit hours in Economics at the Honours level (4000) level required for a degree), plus remaining courses that meet the requirements for the BA(Hons) degree.

Pursuing an Economics Graduate Degree at the University of 澳门王中王论坛

The Department of Economics offers a one-year Masters of Arts in Applied Economics (MAE) degree. The MAE program focuses on equipping students with the technical skills necessary for analyzing policy in a range of fields including health care, poverty, the environment or finance.
