Stream C: Child Development and Child Care

Stream C is a joint program offered by the University of 澳门王中王论坛 (UW) and Red River College Polytechnic (RRCP) or the Université de St. Boniface (USB). This unique collaboration enables students to earn both a 2-year diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and a 3-year Bachelor of Arts degree in Developmental Studies (Child Development and Child Care) within a four-year period of full-time study. Graduates qualify for the highest classification, ECE III, from the Manitoba Department of Families’ Early Learning and Child Care Program. UW is proud to offer the only degree-granting professional program in Early Childhood Education in Manitoba.

Specializations:

Students in Stream C must choose one of the following areas of specialization:

  • Child Care Administration Specialization - Includes a selection of business courses
  • Inclusion Concentration - Focuses on psychology and education courses. 

Career Preparedness:

Graduates of Stream C are well-prepared for a variety of roles, including child care specialists, centre directors, supervisors, and early childhood educators.

Program Structure:

Direct Entry

Year 1 & 2: UW 30 credit hours & RRCP Spring Practicum
  • Degree Requirements
  • Core Courses at UW
  • Complete the Spring Practicum at Red River (RRC)
Year 3: RRCP/USB - 30 Credit Hour Transfer
  • Students completing Year 2 of the ECE II program in full time studies and earn their diploma
Year 4: UW - 30 credit hours
  • Complete Specialization courses and finish outstanding Core Courses or degree requirements

Diploma Entry

Years 1 & 2 - 30 credit hours of advanced standing
  • Two-Year Diploma in Early Childhood Education at RRCP or USB (or equivalent)
Year 3 - UW 30 credit hours
  • Core Courses at UW
  • Degree Requirements
Year 4 - UW 30 credit hours
  • Complete Specialization courses and finish outstanding Core Courses or degree requirements
