Services for Wesmen Athletes

2024-2025 Pre-Season Medical Requirements

First year athletes or athletes that have been away from the Wesmen program for a year or more; must complete the pre-participation medical AND schedule an appointment with a physician to complete the Physician's Assessment form.  *Athletes are responsible for all physician fees required to complete the Physician's Assessment form.

Dr. Oliver Leslie will be available on select dates, throughout the spring and summer, in the Athletic Therapy Centre to administer medicals. This can be billed through your provincial health card and there will not be any further fees associated to completing the Physician's Assessment form.

If you have not received an invitation to Players Health for the upcoming season, please email athletictherapy@uwinnipeg.ca for registration questions or to schedule an appointment with Dr. Leslie.

It is important that all athletes understand and comply with the medical and insurance requirements prior to starting any activities with a Wesmen team.


Anti-doping Information

All USport athletes are required to follow the anti-doping regulations set by the Canadian Centre for Ethics and Sport (CCES).  Their website is .  The CCES has online courses designed for both first year athletes as well as returning athletes that are a requirement for eligibility as a USport athlete. A doping control seminar will be conducted in early September by the Head Athletic Therapist in order for athletes to remain current on the rules set forth by the CCES.

The doping control seminar, as well as both the online CCES course and the medical (for first year athletes) or the health questionnaire (for returning athletes), must be completed in order to be eligible for practice and competition as a Wesmen athlete.

The CCES course invitation and instructions are sent to the Athletic Director in July and will be forwarded to all athletes ASAP at that time.
