Students on Mature status are admitted on probation, and their academic status is assessed upon completion of 24 credit hours. They are not allowed to continue their studies at the University if they do not meet the 1.4 GPA Minimum Performance Standard upon completion of 24 credit hours.

You cannot register for any additional classes after your status has changed to Not Allowed to Continue. However, if you are registered in classes which have already begun when notified of your status change, you do have the option of continuing in those classes, or withdrawing with a full refund. Please note that in order to receive a full refund, you must notify Stephanie Rozzi, the Academic Advisor for Adult Learners and RPL, of your decision within one week of receiving your notice of Not Allowed to Continue, and you must drop all classes. Having a Not Allowed to Continue status does not mean that you cannot get your degree. Students can resume their studies by upgrading their High School credits to meet Regular status admission requirements and reapplying to the University, or after a Readmission when Not Allowed to Continue appeal has been granted.

Students are required to sit out until they meet Regular status admissions requirements and re-apply for admission, or until a Readmission when Not Allowed to Continue appeal has been granted.

There is an appeal process available for students who believe they have sufficient grounds to return without meeting Regular status admission requirements. However, those appeals are only granted in extraordinary circumstances. Degree credit is granted for courses previously completed at the University.

Once you have received notification of your status change to Not Allowed to Continue, your first step is to consult with Stephanie Rozzi. She can answer questions and evaluate whether the appeal process is relevant to your circumstances.

Yes, Not Allowed to Continue status is permanently noted on your transcript. While we understand that this is distressing, the most important thing is to make sure that your future terms are as successful as possible. We recommend contacting a Student Success Advisor to create an Academic Success Plan, and to make sure that you are aware of all the resources you have available to you.
