ON GOING PROJECT

The Handbook Project

In collaboration with participants, the project uses an ethnographic approach and interviews based on the principle of the mutable text in order to create 鈥渕ulti-sensory鈥 records of the participants鈥 everyday life experience and engagement with their creativity. It serves to build a library of 鈥渉andbooks鈥 from various cultures, crafts and making traditions, and age-gender groups across the nations of the world, extending their communities via communication media. It also explores gender, ageing, work, craft, passion, and tactility in everyday life. In collaboration with participants, the project uses an ethnographic approach to document a 鈥渃reative hands鈥 life process.

Research-creation impact from this project is in the following areas: Conference presentation(s), publications of various forms, Journals,(printed and digital), a local exhibition (at the SU Gallery), and then an internet hosted exhibition on the Google Arts & Culture platform, including a section on the CRCDM website for project reporting and knowledge archiving and dissemination to a wide audience. Spherical HDR VR 360 captures will also be done for each of the participant locations chosen in order to situate the 鈥減eople in their environment鈥.
