The Senator Thomas Crerar Scholarship

Applications for the 2024-2025 academic year are due September 15, 2024

This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has completed their final undergraduate or M.A. qualifying year and is entering a graduate program in Humanities with preference given to students showing an interest in Canadian History or Philosophy or the language and literature of either French or English speaking peoples. This scholarship, named in honour of the late Senator Thomas Crerar, P.C., C.C., L.L.D., is established by a fund created by a bequest of Dorothy Naylor and administered by the 澳门王中王论坛 Foundation.

"Getting this award has allowed me the opportunity to make a switch from my full-time work as a social worker to starting grad studies in a different field and building a whole new set of skills...I would like to thank the Sentator Thomas Crerar Scholarship Committee and the Cultural Studies Grad Program Committee for providing me with this once in a lifetime opportunity. Value

The 2023-2024 value of this award was $13,000.00. The 2024-2025 value is TBA, but expected to be similar.

Eligibility

This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has completed their final undergraduate or M.A. qualifying year and is planning to enter a graduate program in Humanities with preference given to students showing an interest in Canadian History or Philosophy or the language and literature of either French or English speaking peoples.

You may be eligible for this award if you meet the following criteria:

  • Accepted to begin first year of a Master’s program in Humanities at the University of 澳门王中王论坛
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00 (B)
Application Procedures

A completed application package includes the following:

  • A completed application form, which will ask the applicant to upload:
    • Official or unofficial transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions the applicant has attended
    • A 250-500 word personal statement outlining the applicant's research interests, academic goals, and how their program of study meets the awards eligibility criteria
    • A resume/CV listing the applicant’s work experience, research, volunteer or extra-curricular activities, awards, publications, etc. in chronological
  • A letter of support from the student's Graduate Program Committee Chair emailed directly to graduateawards@uwinnipeg.ca by the August 15 deadline.

All materials must be received by the application deadline of September 15.
