About:
Jean-Pierre Desforges is an environmental scientist who specializes in toxicology and wildlife ecology. He's interested in how natural and anthropogenic factors influence the physiology, health, and fitness of wildlife, and how to improve chemical management and conservation approaches.
Desforges' experience is on a wide variety of pollutants and species to explore how contaminants accumulate and cause effects in wildlife. His research approach incorporates a broad spectrum of tools and scientific fields to garner mechanistic understandings of wildlife-environment interactions: genomics, molecular biology, in vitro experimentation, dietary tracers, field biology, ecophysiology, remote sensing, biologging, bioenergetics, population biology, and ecological modeling.
