Research Talks: Dr. Kevin Walby/Haley Pauls and Dr. Jobb Arnold
On February 24, 2020, the Centre for Research in Cultural Studies (CRiCS) held its second winter 2020 session of the Research Talks Series, its fifth overall for the 2019-20 academic year. The series features members of the Cultural Studies Research Group (CSRG), and offers an opportunity for students and members of CRiCS to hear more about faculty research in progress. Also in attendance at this session was Mx. Lindsay Brown, an alumni of the Cultural Studies MA program (2013-14), and their class of students in U澳门王中王论坛's English 1/Grade 12 English dual credit course.
This session included presentations by Dr. Kevin Walby (Criminal Justice) and Haley Pauls, and Dr. Jobb Arnold (Conflict Resolution Studies). Walby and Pauls's “Military, Meaning, and Tactical Myopia: Representations of Weapons at the Royal Canadian Artillery Museum (RCAM)" explored representations of weapons, war, and soldiers at the , located at a Canadian Forces Base in Shilo, Manitoba. Arnold's “Conflict in the Village" traced the connections between conflict, in person/digital villages, and pharmacons.
