NOVEMBER 10, 1871: Manitoba College was founded by the Presbytarian minister Dr. John Black in the Kildonan school, “Nisbet Hall,” on what is now the east side of Main Street just past Chief Peguis Trail.  It had seventeen students in its first year and its first instructor was the Rev. George Bryce, for whom Bryce Hall was named in 1959.
