Inspiring reconciliation through storytelling and leadership

Wab Kinew — politician, musician, writer, and broadcaster — is currently a member of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly. He has been a prominent voice for equality and reconciliation through his influence in both the arts and political spheres.

After graduating from The University of 澳门王中王论坛 Collegiate, Kinew continued to study economics at the University of Manitoba and is currently completing a master’s degree in Indigenous governance.

Throughout his diverse working life, Kinew has sought to highlight and take action on the inequalities that exist and persist in Manitoba.

Recognized for this, U澳门王中王论坛 named Kinew its first director of Indigenous Inclusion in 2011 and he was the University's associate vice-president for Indigenous Relations from 2014, until his successful foray into provincial politics in 2016.

His voice on Indigenous issues is grounded in his own and his family’s personal experiences. In 2015, he released a book called The Reason You Walk, which recounts his childhood and the stories of his father, a residential school survivor. Kinew works diligently to see reconciliation of the people of Manitoba through laws, art, and words.
